DEEPWATER POSITIONING TECH INVESTMENT


Norwegian survey company Electromagnetic Geoservices (EMGS) has increased its investment in technology developed by Sonardyne International that allows hydrocarbon-sensing equipment to be positioned in deep water with extremely high accuracy. The Ranger 2 Gyro-iUSBL system combines acoustic positioning and inertial navigation technologies and is the second system now owned by EMGS. It will be fitted to one of its towed electromagnetic sources that operate in water depths down to 4,000m in conjunction with electromagnetic receivers, to detect the presence of hydrocarbons through more than 3km of rock.

Contract win on world’s longest pipeline


M² Subsea, a provider of ROV services, has secured its first contract award that is valued at over £1million. The project will see the firm supplying the Go Electra vessel, ROVs and personnel to support survey work on the world’s longest subsea pipeline system. Next Geosolutions, an independent geoscience and engineering service provider, has chosen the company to deliver the campaign in the Baltic Sea for the Nord Stream 2 project.
