New festive look for city square

NEW Christmas lights will add extra festive sparkle in George Square during the festive holidays. The new lights will be part of a revamped ‘Glasgow

Loves Christmas’ celebration which will include a huge festive market in George Square alongside the traditional tree and nativity scene. Lord Provost Sadie Docherty will switch on the new Christmas lights on Sunday 20 November with details of how to get tickets being made public in the coming weeks.

The hugely-popular ‘Style Mile Christmas Carnival’ on Sunday 27 November will bring music, dance and spectacle. The traditional ‘Blessing of the Crib’ accompanied

by choral singers will be on Thursday 1 December at 6pm in George Square. The city will celebrate its newest citizens with the much-loved ‘Babies First Christmas’ on Saturday 3 December. Glasgow’s Santa Dash, with more than 4,000 runners last year, is on Sunday 11 December.
