BREATHTAKING NEIGHBOURHOOD BAR OPENS AT

BATTERSEA POWER STATION

Independent in spirit and rich in design, No 29 Power Station West is the only pub in the new Battersea Circus West Village development adjacent to Battersea Power Station.

Independent neighbourhood bar group, Darwin & Wallace are thrilled to open the newest location, No 29 Power Station West next to Battersea Power Station. Created by artisans of interiors, food and drink, No 29 Power Station West is the only pub joining a selection of all independent traders in the iconic Battersea Power Station’s ‘Circus West Village’. The location offers an all day drinking and dining experience from morning coffee and brunch through to evening supper and nightcap with a food menu featuring locally sourced ingredients and dishes to suit all occasions. Steeped in design, No 29 Power Station West is filled with bespoke handmade pieces, referencing the industrial heritage of the power station and elegance of the art deco era.

Adding to the existing Darwin & Wallace collection of independent neighbourhood bars across quintessential London Villages, No 11 Pimlico Road, No 32 The Old Town, No 1 Duke Street and No 197 Chiswick Fire Station, No 29 Power Station West is a home from home in London’s newest riverside village.

Situated between the iconic Power Station and Battersea Park, No 29 Power Station West has a stripped back utilitarian feel that rings true to the areas industrial heritage and references the style of the period. With inspiration drawn from both local and worldwide influences, over 100 pieces of hand picked and crafted furniture, tiles and artwork will fill the bar including a bespoke Crittall shopfront that claims the space and handcrafted Bert & May tiles that run throughout the downstairs River Bar. Soft furnishings of leathers, velvets and linens will fill the space, referencing the glamour of the 1920s period. Architect and

6 SEPTEMBER 2017 No 29 Power Station West opens next to Battersea Power Station.

Designer and Founder of Box 9, Lou Davies and Darwin & Wallace founder Mel Marriott have worked with collaborators on the project including The French House, Bert & May and Jan Hendzel Studio to name a few with artwork handpicked from The Hang Up Gallery in Stoke Newington, reinforcing the home from home feel.

Lou Davies, Architect and Designer, Box 9 comments, “The bespoke detailing for No 29 Power Station West is starting to materialise as makers come into their own. We have been busy sourcing exceptionally high quality materials to create Battersea’s individually design pieces. This combined with the back drop of our elegant, industrial interior with subtle nods to the power station means its shaping up to be a very characterful space.”

A bar first and foremost, No 29 Power Station West proudly serves over 30 wines, 20 craft, draught and bottled beers, home made soft drinks and a hand picked collection of seasonal long and short serves including the Watermelon Sour and Passionfruit Caipirinha. The hand crafted menus run throughout the collection of bars and feature an all day food offering too including a refreshing array of seasonal dishes made from locally sourced food, scratch cooked on site. From a breakfast of avocado lime and chilli on sourdough to a lunch of coconut poached chicken salad, Sunday roasts of slow cooked short rib of beef and roast chicken breast, topped off with one of many satisfying desserts including white chocolate creme brûlée with passionfruit, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Mel Marriott, Darwin & Wallace, Managing Director comments, “We feel privileged and very excited to open our fifth pub in one of London’s most iconic locations. Together with our one of a kind collaborators, we have built a place of integrity, a place with a sense of home. With references to its industrial past and its iconic location and views over the river and

the arches, No 29 Power Station West is the perfect backdrop for eating and drinking.”

Rob Tincknell, CEO of Battersea Power Station Development Company, said: “The opening of No 29 Power Station West is another major step forward in the transformation of this part of London into an exciting new cultural and food destination. Circus West Village has a distinctive neighbourhood feel with a great mix of local shops, restaurants, Village Hall and more. I cannot wait to try the village pub, it looks fantastic.”
