LANDMARK OPENINGS Minor Hotel Group will bring its luxury brand to Jeddah and Zanzibar in the next three years
Minor Hotel Group will debut its luxury Anantara brand in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and launch a new property in Zanzibar, adding to the company’s international portfolio of 155 hotels. Anantara Zanzibar Resort will open in 2020 as part of the Zanzibar Amber Resort mixed- use lifestyle community. Meanwhile, by 2019, Anantara Jeddah Resort is set to open on the Obhur waterfront, with 226 guest rooms and 102 two- to five-bedroom villas. Marking its debut in Saudi Arabia, the Jeddah property’s facilities will also include a good
selection of dining options with indoor and outdoor seating, fitness and swimming pool areas, a kids’ and teens’ club and a library. For business guests, there will be a 500 square-metre meeting room, which can be split in two, as well as two further meeting rooms. A separate male and female Anantara Spa, and a wellness centre, will offer a host of treatment options. Guests can also enjoy healthy cooking classes, with activi- ties from yoga to pilates. occupy more than 1,000 hectares of pristine Indian Ocean coastline. Leisure facilities will include a spa and wellness centre, a gym, a kids’ club and a teens’ club, while three restaurants and bars add to the offering. There are also plans to introduce marine life
and coral to restore a reef ecosystem surround- ing the hotel. Guests will have access to Zanzibar Amber Resort, which will offer a souk, a tropical aqua park, a marina, an equestrian centre and polo club. A series of new openings and renovations are continuing apace at Katara Hospitality as the company goes from strength to strength. The Qatari hotel operator’s recent high- lights include the opening of Murwab brand hotels’ The Hotel Royal Savoy Lausanne in Swit- zerland, as well as Simaisma Resort and five- star luxury hotel The Avenue in Qatar. Local projects also include the renovation
and rebranding of Sealine Beach in Doha and the launch of new family destination Hotel Park, also in the city. The company, which aims to have 60 prop- erties in its portfolio by 2026, has introduced Katara Specialties, showcasing the Middle Eastern nation’s cuisine in all Katara Hospital- ity’s hotels, and has made inroads towards the ‘Qatarisation’ of the country’s hospitality industry

Homegrown hotel brand Hospitality Manage- ment Holding (HMH) has unveiled a new logo, as it prepares for a major growth period. The logo design has been created to comple-
ment the group’s ‘Beyond Hospitality’ ethos, and is part of a series of measures as the firm looks ahead to future development. A blue and orange colour scheme has been
used for the logo, which was a year in the making and reflects the group’s distinctive character. Design features of high-rises and tall buildings draw inspiration from HMH’s global expansion plans. This comes as HMH appointed Purcell as COO
earlier this year. The former Complex General Manager for both The Ajman Palace Hotel and Coral Beach Resort Sharjah, Purcell has more than 30 years of regional and international experience in the hospitality industry.
