UAE WEBSITE PROMOTES INDIA IN TOURISM DRIVE
ROBUST GROWTH FOR RAS AL KHAIMAH
Ras Al Khaimah is continuing to outperform the wider UAE and regional tourism markets, accord- ing to the latest figures from Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority. Visitor arrivals grew 10.9 percent from around
740,000 in 2015 to almost 821,000 in 2016. Inter- national tourist numbers also increased, now comprising 59 percent of total hotel guests, while total guest nights reached more than 2.73 million, marking a 15.6 percent increase. The UAE remains the top tourist provider for
Ras Al Khaimah, but there has also been strong annual growth in visitors from the UK (up 34.9 percent), India (up 28.2 percent), Germany (up 24.6 percent) and Russia (up 19.5 percent). According to global real estate consultancy firm
CBRE, the emirate’s hospitality market recorded a 9.8 percent growth in the average occupancy rate, taking the annual occupancy to 71 percent. Matthew Green, Head of Research & Consul-
tancy UAE, CBRE Middle East, said: “Ras Al Khaimah’s real estate market is set to see substan- tial transformation over the next five years, includ- ing large-scale projects such as Emaar’s first major foray into the emirate, with a planned mixed-use scheme on Al Marjan Island. “With the delivery of multiple new resort
properties in the pipeline and 1,000 new keys expected to be delivered during 2017 and 2018, we will see a major market shift from 2019 onwards.” ——— Visit stand ME3510

saw flight bookings from the UAE to India jump 12 percent on the site, while holiday packages increased by 21 percent.
