TIME FOR MORE IN THE REGION

As part of a significant expansion, TIME Hotels plans to open 10 new properties across the Middle East by the end of 2018. The UAE company is set to extend its footprint to Ajman and Fujairah, followed by Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Joining the group’s existing portfolio of

seven properties, between Dubai and Sharjah, the new additions will take the tally to 17 prop- erties across the region. TIME Hotels CEO Mohamed Awadalla said:

“It has been a busy year for TIME Hotels, with a raft of properties announced and several of them due to come online in the next 12 months. “We have been very strategic with our open-

ings by identifying and assessing the demand within the market, and implementing the most suitable brand from the TIME portfolio to best match consumer wants and needs.”

He added: “We’re excited by the prospects

this year brings and look forward to adding to our pipeline further.” In Dubai, three new hotels will open, TIME

Asma Hotel, TIME Express Hotel Al Jaddaf and TIME Royal Hotel & Spa, the firm’s first five-star UAE property located in Healthcare City. The hotel will boast 277 rooms with a location close to the popular Wafi shopping mall. Plans are in place to also take the TIME Resi-

dence brand to Fujairah, with the launch of the Platinum TIME Residence later this year. Inter- national openings in Doha, Riyadh, Jeddah and Qurayyat demonstrate the brand’s strength in markets outside of the UAE. TIME Beach Villas Resort, Jeddah will be

a luxury contemporary property on the upper west side of the city, and the first TIME Resort.

DUBAI’S SECOND AIRPORT SOARS

Passenger traffic at Dubai World Central (DWC) saw a sharp increase in 2016, according to a report from operator Dubai Airports, as the busy hub continues to exceed expectations. The hub’s traffic climbed 84.5 percent to

welcome 850,633 passengers, compared with 461,063 in 2015. Growth is mainly attributed to low-cost carrier flydubai, which operates an aver- age 41 weekly flights to five destinations. Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, said:

“We expect the trend to continue, considering DWC offers airlines easy availability of slots, quick transit times and access to new catchment areas. “This isn’t forgetting the expansion project
