The USDA Natural Resources Conser- vation Service (NRCS) in Texas has $2M available in funding through the Environ- mental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) to help producers address resource concerns due to recent wildfires in the Texas Panhan- dle. Counties impacted include: Ochiltree, Lipscomb, Hemphill, Roberts, Gray, Wheel- er, Oldham, Dallam, Moore, Hartley, Randall, Potter, Hockley and Carson. Farmers and ranchers affected will need

Beef Cattle Health Considerations Smoke inhalation, burns and thermal injury, exer-


tion, stress, and injuries suffered during escape can all cause longer-term effects on cattle that have survived wildfires. Some of the body systems that can be affect- ed include: Lungs, Feet, Teats, Bulls, and Eyes. While a great number of surviving cattle will not show any long-term effects of a wildfire, cattle producers should be away of the potential of problems down the road. To learn more, click here.
