Angela Wilkinson-Hasenfus passed away peacefully on February 20, 2017 at Palomar Hospital in Escondido, CA. Born in England, Angela had a full life and had lived in Paris, Bermuda, New York and southern California where she met her husband Paul. Married in 1996, they moved to Poway in 2001. Angela worked as an analyst with Petco in their corporate offices where she nurtured her love of animals. Angela is survived by her husband Paul; his sons, Paul Jr. and Phillip; their spouses, Trish and Jennifer; granddaughters, Katie and Lillian; and grandson, Hugo. Angela is also survived by her brothers, Bernard and Frank; and sisters, Betty and Margaret.

Suzanne was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1947. She was the oldest of two. Suzanne is survived by her husband Michael, son and daughter-in-law Thomas and Tina, and her five grandchildren. Funeral scheduled for Wednesday Apr. 5 at 11AM.

Those of us close to Nico felt him to be the most caring person we knew. He had empathy for everyone, from a stranger on the street to his best friends. He touched our lives in so many ways. It will be difficult to go on without him. Born in San Diego, Nico grew up in Ocean Beach and attended Point Loma High School. He graduated from UCLA with a degree in history. Nico worked for the Los Angeles Times for the past 10 years, most recently as a web producer. Nico is survived by his wife, Gluay, his parents David and Tracey, brother Ben, sister Becca and many loving relatives.

La Jolla Pilar Jensen, also known as a celebrity in our community and the proprietor of Pilar’s Beachwear, passed peacefully in her La Jolla home. She was born in Barcelona, Spain, and quickly adapted to the coastal lifestyle here, so similar to her native country. She will be remembered for her innovated ideas, the concept of bathing suit separates, the enormous selection of swimwear, and most of all her free, loving and generous spirit. My Godmother was larger than life.
Waymon passed away Friday, March 17, at the age of 68. He joined the United States Marine Corps and honorably served his country for 30 years. He is survived by his wife Eiko Roberts to whom he was married for 45 years, his son David and daughter- in-law Tricia, and his daughter Melissa Parker and son-in-law Keith Parker. He was proud of his six grandchildren, Mia, Cole, Emmerson, Ella, Ava, and Keith Jr.

The first son of Navy Commander Carl Gobel and wife Margaret, Jan was born in Oakland, California and spent his early years in Japan where his father was stationed. Jan passed away under hospice care in San Diego, California where he had lived on and off for many years. A consummate salesman, he spent his working life selling award-winning children’s books and was the face of Green Tiger Press, Laughing Elephant, Picture Book Studio and Ars Edition. Jan is survived by his sons, Marlon and Lars, whom he raised in San Diego, Boston and Seattle and his brothers, Alan, Gary and Glenn. He was preceded in death by his parents and longtime companion, Virginia Barbey. At Jan’s request, his ashes will be scattered at Windansea Beach in La Jolla at sunset on Friday, March 17th.

years.Stephen Duane Gunnett was born, July 1, 1948, in San Diego, CA to George Samuel and Dorothy Lillian Gunnett (Hall). He grew up in Ramona, CA. Stephen drafted into the United States Army at the age of 18 and served his country honorably in the Vietnam War. After leaving the Army, he married Ruth and they raised five children together. Stephen created a lifelong career in the grocery industry in Ramona. He was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW Local 135) and graduated with an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies from Palomar College in San Marcos, CA. Stephen was known
James Patrick McNamara of San Francisco has passed away at the age of 49 after an extended illness. He will be sorely missed. As a child, James was curious and gifted. At 2 he took apart and rebuilt his parents’ telephone, and by age 6 he had moved on to dismantling and rebuilding the family TV set. He enjoyed films and playing golf for Brophy Prep. in Phoenix, AZ. Midway through high school James moved to La Jolla, California where he discovered punk rock, skateboarding, and surfing. He graduated from La Jolla High School in 1985. James developed life-long interests in computers, history, fashion, and the arts. After high school James moved to San Francisco where he embraced the city’s history and culture. Pam Dallenbach, 62, passed away in her home in Ocean Beach on February 16, 2017, after a 1 year 9 month courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her two daughters, Christina Dallenbach (34) and Danielle Dallenbach (30); her granddaughter, Mackenzi Dallenbach (12); and her many friends and family members. She loved to read and was a huge fan of all things Star Trek and Star Wars. She was a wonderful dog mommy to her little pup, Casanova. An amazing and loving mother and grandmother to all of her girls, she will be truly missed.
