ONE MINUTE MOORE

Some things in life are just

WRONG RANDALL MOORE

starts walking as fast as he can, and also starts praying, praying for a short appointment. Lot of good that did. Lot of good it does even complaining about it. Cause nothing ever changes.

~~~ I’ve another friend who refs a lot of
hockey. Three games a week, sometimes more with tournaments. He’s thinking of packing it in. The abuse from the parents, coaches, the players....it’s not worth it anymore. Says how would you like to be told to F-off by a 12 year old?!?! It happens, he says, and getting worse.
He was recently doing a game in Brockville. Parents from Cornwall were giving it to him non-stop. He finally has two of them ejected from the rink. I saw that myself back when the young lad
PW/17 It’s been awhile since I experienced the
parking nightmare that is the Civic Campus of the Ottawa Hospital. It was back when my mom was a patient.
I damn near went broke! It hasn’t changed, I am told. I was told by a friend who was seeing
a specialist for his hernia, he thought about parking on one of the nearby streets. Can’t do that anymore. Not even one hour parking. And that big concrete parking lot. Why
bother, it’s always full. But on that special day when you’re ‘ lucky ‘ enough to find a spot, well, let’s put it this way...El Cheapo almost had a heart attack! It’s not funny, though, because some
folks have loved ones in the hospital for an extended time. Or they have one, two appointments a week and for whatever reason they can’t take the bus or they’re from out of town. It’s highway robbery! My friend ends up finding a 1970-style
coin meter on Parkdale. Takes only quarters. He has one, good for what....12 minutes! He has no choice, inserts the quarter and
was playing. The father of one of our players was on the ref’s back, shouting and screaming like a freakin’ lunatic. (There was alcohol involved!) The ref actually stopped the game and said loud enough so that everyone in the rink could hear, “this game doesn’t continue until that guy is gone!” I’ll never forget how embarrassed his son was. The refs don’t need that kind of crap! Some of the coaches are the worst. At an atom house league tournament in
Ottawa. A team from out-of-town, they were playing early Friday evening, their first game of the tourney. Three men behind the bench. Three idiots! The screaming and yelling at the young refs...relentless, cruel. One coach gets ejected, then another, then
when the game was over the third wouldn’t give it a rest so he too was given the boot. From the tournament...all three coaches! And with no coaches that means no more hockey - after one game! Think about it. This was a team from out-
of-town. Parents had to fork out big bucks for the tourney. The gas, the hotels...and the kids, young players, how do you think they felt? They just wanted to play and have some fun and now they were on their way home, after just one game, because their coaches, their so-called role models, were acting like jerks. Minor hockey. They wonder why they can’t keep referees. Heck, I’m surprised they have any at all!
