Of course, there was also the “big stage”, large music halls presenting top attractions. Local artists would occasionally be added to the shows as “opening acts”. In Ottawa the early years saw these type of package shows at The Coli- seum (Lansdowne Park) and The Auditorium (Argyle & O’Connor


tawa Valley’s country music scene was the establishment in 1980 of Country Music News, an Ottawa- based publication founded by popular entertainer Neville Wells. It provided 32 years (1980-2012) of “print” support to the Canadian country music industry, artists and fans.
