special someone, feelings of comparison and in some cases jealousy enters our minds with quiet steps? And specially when its festive time like Christmas, Diwali, New Year etc., our Facebook timeline almost gets flooded with celebration pictures of our known people leaving one with a feeling “I wish I could also celebrate like this, I wish I had such a happy relationship, I wish I could travel the world etc.”Sometimes it even leads you to question many things in your life in a negative way.
According to the research of University of Copenhagen excessive use of social
media can lead to feelings of envy. As per the study when a survey of around 1000 participants (mostly women) was conducted they said “Regular use of social networking such as Facebook can negatively affect your emotional well- being and satisfaction with life.”
For sure there must be some kind of negative impact of lurking on social media as everything has its own pros and cons. No doubt social media has connected us well and help us know what others are up to but it is always good to sometimes take a break from social media.
