WHAT’S NEWS & WHAT’S NEW IN BY THE DART Get By The Dart on your phone and tablet

For a long time it’s been possible to read By The Dart magazine online on your desktop. You’d be amazed how many do this and how far flung they are - e.g. we have regular

readers in the USA! But until now, it’s not been possible to view the magazine on your tablet or smart phone, or rather the cost of producing a mobile version is way out of the reach of a tiny publisher like ourselves. However, because of recent software updates we can

now create an HTML linked version of the magazine to use on your phone. You still have to tap and pan the screen to zoom in but it’s remarkably easy to read. We hope soon to create new bespoke digital versions of our huge databank of content specifically designed for use on mobile phones, so watch this space. To read this issue on your phone or tablet simply type in the following url on your browser - tinyurl.com/bythedartmarch2017 It’s then really easy to share the magazine or any page via email, message, WhatsApp etc or even add it to your home screen If you want to be sent alerts when each new issue of the magazine is available, simply email “Alert Me about the New issue” to mark@bythedart.co.uk

CAN YOU WRITE?

Since we launched By The Dart magazine back in 2008, we have been frequently amazed about the writing talent on our doorstep and have met many people who have expressed their desire to write for us. We are, therefore, keen to encourage more ‘voices’ into the magazine and to invite guest columnists to write for us. So if you think you can write and want to express yourself in print then please get in touch. We’re looking for articles that give a personal view on what makes life special living or visiting here or perhaps hearing about those that have an interesting back story that led them to settle in/around Dartmouth. Or even, we’d like to hear about your personal view e.g. on the absurdities of modern life, the impact of growing old or observations about where we live that might have escaped most people’s notice. Actually, the remit is pretty wide. What we don’t want, however, are rants about the state of local parking or whines that Dartmouth ain’t what it used to be... save those for letters to the Chronicle! Our front cover strap line - ‘celebrating local life’ is there for a reason and as a hint! Articles should be approx 700-1000 words, ideally with a lightness of touch and a degree of wit if possible. Send them please to mark@bythedart.co.uk. We’ll do our best to publish the best of them in forthcoming issues. We look forward to hearing from you.

New Business Directory available Our popualr Annual Business and Community Directory is now published and will be distributed with the March issue issue of By The Dart directly to 5,000 local homes. If you don’t get a copy, email mark@bythedart. co.uk. If you run a local business and we have omitted you from our listings then also get in touch. Comprehensive details of over 2,000 local companies are listed on our website at http://www.bythedart. co.uk/dartmouth-business-directory/business-news/ businessdirectory
