Lytchett Minster & Upton Gardening Club
Our club is 75 years old this year! Looking back through the archives, the first ‘minutes’ are from February 1942. During the war, many ‘garden clubs’ were formed, as clubs were able to access more seeds and lime than individuals for the ‘Dig for Victory’ campaign. If you have any memories or photos about the club we would be very pleased to hear from you. We hope to have an event at some time during the year to celebrate our anniversary. In the meantime, there is still a plaque behind Upton Clock Tower celebrating our 60th anniversary in 2002.

Next Event: Choosing the Right Vegetable Varieties. Thursday 23rd March, 7.30pm. In 1989 with many years of overseas work and agricultural research under their belts, Michael and Joy came to England to run their own market garden. Although chillies were not particularly popular in Britain in the early 1990s, for some unknown reason it was not long before they started specialising in chillies and in 1994 ‘Peppers by Post’ was born. The establishment of Sea Spring Seeds several years later was a natural progression. Come and be inspired by Joy’s expertise! The entry fee is £3 per session and includes tea and biscuits.
