The prevailing beauty trend that dominated the catwalk shows this Spring was natural clean skin and understated makeup with effortless wash and go hair. However that did not mean that stronger looks to make your personal beauty stand out were not cleverly employed for a more stylised and individual impact.

Glitter was another popular trend this season, with sequins, candy and sparkles on lips, eyes and cheeks. Its a great way to bring attention to your favourite feature and to make a strong statement. Particularly good for low light situations in a romantic restaurant or hip bar.

Many of the big designers followed Alicia Keys example of no make up at all. Not what a magazine usually recommends, but hey, if you look great without, why spoil something so naturally beautiful anyway. A million years of evolution has done wonders for your face, designed by the desires of generations to be pretty perfect. Though some elected for just a little tweak here and there, clean skin really is the major trend of this Spring/Summer.
Strong red lipstick was also everywhere, another perennial staple that always works well with your favourite killer black dress. Lipstick was also use to good effect as a blush, just to bring a little extra colour to the cheeks, with a hint of shine.
Our last and most creative tip is to use a hint of colour somewhere unusual, bring out your eyes with two contrasting colours above the lids, or over the cheeks, use lightly to draw attention without it being instantly obvious. Gucci even painted the girls eyebrows with shades of pink and yellow at the shows, blink and you missed it, but these subliminal signals can be very effective.
