Modern Fireplaces Warmth & Stories
Both architecture and interior design have seen a renaissance over the last decade, a burgeoning that started in the late 90’s which then gathered pace in the noughties as new modern materials became available to play with. The rise of glass and steel in modern design has been a boon to not just property developers but to those providing exciting new techniques of invigorating contemporary living spaces.
Great leaps have been made in fireplace design, making use of new materials that could channel heat safely and effectively and of technological advances that meant fireplaces could be deployed in very unusual spaces, indoor and out. It has been a thought revolution too, where habitats are created around the user, built with both practicality and aesthetics in mind.
The fireplace once considered simply as a source of heat in the home has become the central focus of a room, and in fact if you go far
back enough in history, you see that it started that way. A tribe would gather round the fireplace to tell stories, to keep warm and safe from dangers both real and imaginary. It is part of the very fabric of our evolution as a story telling people that we conjured up great myths and legends, inspired by the firelight, shadows and mysteries lurking in the dark beyond.
Fireplaces now reflect that yearning to join others for drink, dining and tales, wth exciting new designs,
back where they belong at the hub of the home. It is really down to your own preference, whether you want a fire in the middle of the room, to illuminate and dominate the social gathering, or to the side, wreathed in stone and glass. Let your imagination run as wild as the fire, there are designs to suit every idea and desire, create your own fireplace masterpiece and make it both the talking point and talking place.
