TEN TENORS It’s possible, that love never sounded so good.

The Ten Tenors are ready to sweep you off your feet this month with some of the most romantic songs and arias of all time. California is the first U.S. stop with their new show,The Power of TEN and the guys, known as “The Vocal Wonder from Down Under,” will be singing the iconic songs of artists like David Bowie, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran and The Everly Brothers. The Ten Tenors are just now wrapping up an Aussie tour and preparing to harmonize around the globe andThe Rage Monthly caught up with singer Michael Edwards, who joined the group in 2014.

In the show you are bringing stateside, do you have a favorite among the song list? Our show really is full of something for every-

body. We try to celebrate every kind of tenor, rather than just present the classic, operatic repertoire usually associated with the voice type. I love getting to perform songs by Queen. Without giving too much away, there is at least one of their hits in the show. Other popular artists include Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars and Meat Loaf and all of these are absolute hits with our audience. Tell me a little bit about what you do personally and as a group, before you come out on stage to perform? As a touring group, we are constantly in different locations and so, we do a sound check every night to make sure we have the balance right for a new

venue. We always get together ten minutes before the curtain goes up to collect our thoughts as a group, get focused and get pumped up and excited for the show. Are there any plans underway to make an album based on this upcoming tour? While we were rehearsing for our Christmas tour

in November last year, we were also in the studio re- cording our next CD. It will he calledWish You Were Hereand includes tracks by artists, who were taken far too soon. It’s got a bit of a different spin compared

to some of our older albums, but also includes that big “tenorial” sound. Fans will be excited to learn that some old boys have come back to sing for it, as this will be our 20th anniversary album. You also do some cool, charitable work for kids. Our association with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is ongoing, with all profits from our Christmas album being donated. We were fortunate to visit St. Jude in November last year and see first-hand the incredible work that they do there. Our album continues to be sold onamazon.com. It’s never too early to get one in for next Christmas, right?

20 YEARS OF CLASSIC SOUNDS AND MODERN HITS

Of course! I’m curious, what do you think of vocal talent shows likeThe Voice? The music industry is such a strange beast and

there are so many great artists trying to crack into it. I loved watching American Idol when I was younger and think these shows continue to be a great platform for singers to get out there and be heard. The one problem I find with them and have noticed more recently, is that the producers seem more interested in a background story than the singing…It would be great if the music could be celebrated. But, I definitely get a kick out of watching the blind auditions onThe Voice. When you were that eight-year-old kid singing in a choir, did you imagine yourself touring the world as a singer? I could only have dreamed as an eight-year-old,

choir boy about touring the world. Singing was such an important hobby to me as a youngster and for it to become what I do, is something I am extremely grateful for. I feel so lucky to do it with such a great bunch of colleagues and friends.
