Jet2 adds Munich to festive weekend market programme

Jet2CityBreaks and Jet2.com have added Munich to their Christmas market destinations for 2016. In total, seven dedicated

weekend Christmas market departures will be operated, including Berlin, Copenhagen and Vienna, alongside Munich. Each two-night break departs on

a Friday and returns on a Sunday. Berlin is offered out of Newcastle on December 2-4; Copenhagen out of Leeds Bradford and Newcastle on December 9-11; Vienna trips are from Leeds Bradford and Newcastle airports on November 25-27; and Munich trips are from Leeds Bradford on December 2-4 and from Newcastle airport on December 9-11.

India back for Som

Somak Holidays has reintroduced India after a break of more than five years.

MUNICH: New for Christmas 2016 Flight-only options are available

from £129 return or flight and hotel packages with Jet2CityBreaks start at £229, with a £60 deposit. The group said the new

programme was on the back of the “spectacular success” of its 2015 Christmas markets, where load

factors reached more than 90%. jet2.com

The operator is selling the destination through its Simply India Holidays brand. Somak was well known for selling India historically, particularly Goa, and ran its own charter flights from London and Manchester. The new programme is tailor-

made to offer more flexibility, with flights from a range of airports and holidays of any duration. The operator has produced a mini brochure dedicated to India to

showcase its product range. “What customers want from a

holiday has changed and this is very much about what they require, and what agents want to put together for them,” said Justin Coles, business development manager. “We are still offering the ‘fly and flop’ packages but have opened it up much more.” Coles said trade feedback

had already been positive. It is anticipated the programme will take off in a similar way to its tailor-made business to Kenya, also originally successful as a charter programme to Mombasa. “We envisage this going the same

way as our Kenya business,” added Coles. “We’ve already seen fantastic bookings since our soft-launch.”
