Do You Have a Bleeding Heart?
By Heather Nichols T
here are seven chakras in our bodies and they are the cen- ters in which energy flows through. Blocked energy in our chakras can often lead to illness, so it's important to under-
stand what each chakra represents and what we can do to keep this energy flowing freely.
The 4th chakra is your heart chakra. The developmental stage is between 4-7 years and the body parts it affects are the lungs, arms, chest, hands and shoulders. An open heart center radi- ates love, trust, emotional strength, and peace. Its color is green and the location is in the center of the chest. With the heart we manifest love, relationships, gratitude and forgiveness. Listening to the heart will tell you when to move forward, slow down, or sur- render. One with a healthy heart chakra is comfortable with their emotions and expressing them. He or she does not take others words or actions personally and is in a gentle balance of strength and sensitivity.
The root chakra is our anchor to the earth, the sacral chakra
brings individuality and change, the solar plexus radiates our life force and purpose, and the heart connects us together sharing our lives. Like the branches of a tree the heart extends to others and together we grow stronger.
An overactive heart center, also known as a “bleeding” heart
tends to search for love; seeks relationships and friendships to satisfy an internal need and to avoid self reflection; trusts others too easily and doesn’t trust themselves enough; has extreme sen- sitivity; is overly giving; has poor boundaries and an over reactive attitude for information that is or may appear critical. People with an overactive heart chakra also tend to require lots of positive attention and rely on others for self worth and co-dependency in committed relationships.
Stones for an overactive or “bleeding” heart: • Bloodstone - grounds emotions, brings strength and focus. • Peridot - brings peace to the heart and mind, increases self awareness.
• Fluorite - helps one feel emotionally secure and to break destructive patterns.
• Malachite - a very intense stone that helps one be aware of their problems that have been denied. Ready or not, malachite will help you deal with yourself.
• Ruby - brings confidence, strength and wisdom.
Signs of a deficient heart center are self loathing; distrust; fear of relationships; unforgiveness; holds on to regret; feels unworthy of kindness; hides fear with anger; does not show vulnerability. Insensitivity and being unempathetic are also tendencies.
Stones to lift the heavy heart are: • Rose quartz - brings ease, love, patience, and wisdom. • Green calcite - helps to heal grief, opens heart, brings confi- dence and forgiveness.
• Enhydros - placed over the heart it helps one recall the past, forgive and move on.
• Rhodonite - brings desire and inspiration to change relation- ship patterns. Helps one feel strength in love. • Rhodochrosite - for courage and to love self and others.
Using stones to help bring a chakra back into balance is as easy as putting stones in a pocket that is close to it or in this case, you can wear it as a piece of jewelry close to your heart. There are many stones you can use to help restore balance and health to your chakras. First, you have to be open to the concept of using stones and then learn how to properly use them. I encourage you to make this a part of your journey for whole health.
This is the 2nd article is a series of 7 to introduce you to all the chakras.
