Revd David Souchon and in his address he said that Doris was born in Cratfield on St David’s Day (March 1st) 1917, the eldest of four children. She spent the early years of her life living in the village at Vine Cottage before leaving school at 14 years old and helping out at home. In 1939 she moved to Bulcamp , within a short time joining the NAFFI serving tea and cakes to the forces. It was while in the NAFFI at Schudy Camps Cambridge in early 1945 that she met William Moore (Bill) who was in the Parachute Regiment having seen active service in India and the Middle East, it was love at first sight and she and Bill were married later that year on August 25th at Blythburgh Church. After the wedding they moved to Southport in Lancashire and lived for a year with Bills mother as both houses

and money were in short supply and difficult to come by. They moved back to Bulcamp in 1946 when Doris was expecting her first child Trevor who was born the following year at White House Farm Cottages. In 1952 they moved to Halesworth renting a house in Bedingfield Crescent, their daughter Linda was born three years later. For 62 years Doris lived in the same house, celebrating their golden wedding in 1995 and then lamenting Bill’s passing in 1999 after 54 happy years together. She was a devoted family woman and will be missed for her kindness and strength of spirit. The

Eulogy Poem

“Afterglow” by Helen Lowrie was read by grandson Matthew Allen.

Doris’s family would like

to thank family, friends and neighbours for their many kind messages of sympathy, cards and donations received on the loss of a dearly loved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Special thanks to Bill Allen for all his help and support.
