Halesworth in Bloom

AN account of what HiB is currently doing can be found in our blog which is updated daily. Go to www.halesworthinbloom. com and click on ‘News’. Our ten year plan for spring

bulbs in public places has this year meant we are planting more bulbs than ever - 3000 in this autumn’s campaign, including a late contribution of bulbs from Waveney Norse. November 16th saw the

official hoisting of the Green Flag in the Town Park on the pole provided by Halesworth Town Council. This prestigious award was granted earlier in the year as a result of the Park’s first ever entry. HiB has ambitious plans for the park in 2017, the bicentenary of the birth of the Halesworth born botanist and Director of Kew Gardens, Joseph Hooker. Main event of the month was

the HiB annual award ceremony on November 20th. Proceedings were opened by a display by

Peasenhall’s Oxblood Molly Dancers with accompanying musicians. The awards were presented by Alan Witherby. Certificates of excellence for Allotments were awarded to: Don Bateman, Jason Bates, Ken Begbie, Fred Burgess & Danella Frith, Victor J Coulson, Mary Gagg, Alan Goodchild, Elizabeth Headley, Mike Huggins, Mike & Juliet Jackson, John Keeble, Reg Oliver, Ian Shawe, David ulph.
