News ‘Parking rage’

cars damaged POLICE are appealing for infor- mation after a number of motorists reported damage to their vehicles parked in the same West Malling street.

Officers say the vandalism could

be linked to “parking rage”. Three cars parked overnight in

Nevill Court between Sunday, No- vember 13 and the following day were heavily scratched. Damage was caused to an Audi, a Subaru and a Saab. Officers are linking the offences

to a spate of similar incidents at the same location in September, when five vehicleswere scratched. Sergeant Jo Mott, of Tonbridge

and Malling’s Community Safety Unit, said: “We are continuing to investigate these incidents and it is possible that they may be related to grievances someone has with park- ing issues in the area. We are also working with our partners to re- view where CCTV cameras are placed. Whilstwe are continuing to make enquiries, it is also important that anyone with information comes forward.” Anyone who can help should call

Kent Police on 01622 604100. If you can help, but wish to remain anonymous, call Kent Crimestop- pers, on 0800 555111.

‘Misfits’ sharing a million after hiing Loo jackpot

A GROUP of colleagues at an Aylesford distribution centre are celebrating after taking delivery of a £1m lottery cheque. The lucky 13, who call themselves

The Misfits Syndicate and work at the DHL depot in Hermitage Lane, have scooped the Millionaire raffle jackpot in the Lotto draw, with each banking a £76,923 share. Syndicate leaderMandyRichards,

whohas been running the Misfits for six years, plays the group’s 13 Lotto lines every Saturday. She said: “I collect the money on payday and buy the tickets every month, and store them safely in a tin at home. I always check our num- bers after the draw, but I don’t al- ways look at the Millionaire Raffle code. I usually leave this to be checked on the machine when I go in to buy the next month’s tickets. And that’s what happened with this win. It’s just amazing to think that little slip of paper worth £1,000,000 was just sitting in my tin at home. “Whenone of the codes matched I couldn’t believe what Iwas seeing. I gotmyzeroes muddled up andwas

convinced it was a £100,000 win, so whenthe lady at Camelot confirmed itwas £1m, Iwas gobsmacked.” She returned to work on Monday

and after putting a copy of the ticket and a screen grab of the winning amount into 12 cards, thewarehouse operative called a meeting. Operations manager Sue Ivell

said: “Some people were finishing their shift or really busy so, in gen- eral, we weren’t that keen to go to the meeting. Once those cards were opened there were whoops of joy, screaming, a few tears and utter amazement. I just couldn’t believe it. Sue plans to share her winnings

with family and friends, splash out on new winter rugs for her horses and maybe some bedroom blinds. Mandy, amumof four and grand- mother to 12, plans to spend her share on a conservatory for thehome she shares with husband, Dwayne. Her fellow syndicate members, who are aged from 31 to 70, have a range of plans, including new cars, clear- ing debts and buying a house. Mandy said: “While we always dreamt of a win, I guess we never thought it could be this big. Sharing this money with the Misfits, and so close to Christmas, is a wonderful experience.”
