CACHE Level 2 Certificate: Introduction to Early Years Education and Care (Early Years Educator)
A one year course.
Entry requirements: 4 GCSE D grades
CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator)
A two year course.
Entry Requirements: English and mathematics at Grade 5 and 3 A*- C grades (including science if wanting to progress to primary teaching degree).
One Year Level 2 Diploma or Two Year Level 3 Diploma

We welcome external candidates. If you are a person who enjoys working with children and wants to embark on a rewarding and caring career, this Is the course for you. The A-level childcare course does not require a GCSE qualification in the subject.
Two sixth form courses are on offer to meet different needs; they are exciting and rigorous and we organise local placement opportunities for you. After completing your course, you may want to work in a pre-school setting, a nursery or progress to university to study child education at a further level. We are an established and well respected centre for delivering CACHE qualifications and can offer you a supportive, well organised and efficient environment to study childcare. DBS checks are compulsory for all who apply for these courses as they will be working with children.
CACHE Level 2 Certificate: Introduction to Early Years Education and Care (Early Years Educator)
This is a one year course. The aim of this qualification is to prepare learners to work with children between birth and five years; to gain knowledge of children up to seven years; and to prepare for moving onto Level 3 qualifications relating to childcare. Job roles include nursery assistant, classroom assistant, nanny and pre-school assistant.
Core units to be studied: Theme 1 - Introducing the Role of the Early Years Practitioner
Students will gain an overview of the physical care routines for children, recognising the role of the early years practitioner in meeting children’s personal needs, and considering how to work in partnership with others.
Theme 2 - Legislation, Framework and Professional Practice Students will learn about the legislation relating to the safeguarding, 52
protection and welfare of children, including health and safety and that relating to equality, diversity and inclusive practice.
Theme 3 - Play, Development and Learning for School
Students will understand how to plan to meet the needs of the developing child in early years by supporting their play, development and positive behaviour, using observation, assessment and planning skills in preparation for the child starting school.
Theme 4 - Professional Development
Students will be able to engage in professional development, using reflective practice.
Additional Units Learning how to support healthy lifestyles for children through the provision of food, nutrition and exercise.
Assessment Assessment:
all units will be internally assessed using a
range of methods including: direct observation within the workplace; a portfolio of evidence; written assignments or a task set by CACHE.
For the Level 2 course you will be in school for three days and in placement for two days. You have to complete a minimum of 250 placement hours to pass the course.
