today is the only, Polish organisation of art and antique dealers. Te founding of the Association was in some measure triggered by the appearance of Gazeta Antykwaryczna (currently Sztuka.pl), a Polish magazine on the art and antique trade, which had been launched two years before in Krakow. Dr Jerzy Huczkowski was the first elected

T

president of SAiMP and is also the current president. He is the former Editor-in-Chief of Gazeta Antykwaryczna and former president of the Gazeta Antykwaryczna Editing Company, where SAiMP initially had its office. Among over 100 members of SAiMP are representatives of Polish auction houses, as well as major Polish art and antique shops and galleries of modern and contemporary art located nationwide. Te main objective is to represent professional

interest vis-à-vis state authorities and expert/ consultant institutions, as well as to shape and promote professional ethics among antique dealers, and the collecting of art and antiques in society. In 1998, SAiMP became a member of

CINOA. Upon invitation from Art & Antique Dealers’ Association of Poland, the 2001 General Assembly of CINOA was organised in Krakow. Te Board of SAiMP were the initiators of the

he SAiMP Art and Antique Dealers’ Association of Poland was founded in 1997 in Krakow as the first, and still

first Polish and International Art & Antique Fair. Now the Art Fairs in Poland are organised

once a year in Warsaw, in the third week of October, in a prestigious part of the Royal Castle, bringing the large audience from the whole country. Every year, the presence of foreign exhibitors is growing significantly. We hope that over the coming years our fairs will help to establish cooperation with CINOA members, especially those from the EU, to make the event more international in scope. In 2010 SAiMP efforts lead to a crucial

change in art export law. Previously, Poland patrimony protection procedures were very severe and discouraging. Now the export of art objects depends on value thresholds and export licences may be handled by SAiMP members in most cases. In recent years SAiMP aims to extend its

area of activity to include comtemporary art galleries. Terefore, the name of the Association has been modified in 2015. Old

name: Polskich Stowarzyszenie Antykwariuszy (SAP). New name: Stowarzyszenie

Antykwariuszy i Marszandów Polskich (SAiMP). For more information on the fairs and other SAiMP activities, visit our website or contact the President of SAiMP: Dr Wojciech Niewiarowski: +48 42 630 4779, or the SAiMP Office at: T/F: +48 12 632 79 96, E: sap.cinoa@gmail.com
