ONLINE ART TRADING

How to Sell Antiques & Works of Art Online?

Having been in the online industry for 15 years and an antiques dealer and fine art consultant for over 30, I am often asked how and why do I need to sell antiques online and on one of the major internet portals.

Iain M Brunt, founder

From experience buyers like to search with a price in mind, so you will get more enquiries with a price.

So why sell on another site when you have your own.

The main sites like www.antiques.co.uk, reach out to a much wider audience worldwide. We concentrate on reaching new markets. Our site www.antiques.co.uk translates into the most major worldwide languages. We have a 50% visitor level from buyers overseas and that means new clients to see your items.

Unfortunately your items on your own website won’t appear on the first pages of any search engine as the first few pages are dominated by the large websites and expensive paying advertisers.

The main rules to sell online are the same as reading a daily newspaper. Great images, good headlines, informative information and finally a value will get the attention of the buyers.

For images I use the Sony Xperia z5 http://www.sonymobile. com/global-en/products/phones/xperia-z5/, you can also use it to post items on your social media.

Make your headline clear so that the search engines can find your items easily. Then be accurate in your description, if it has a scratch or has been restored, mention it, you will only be asked later. Finally the value.

We have thousands of items on line and thousands of visitors each month so the search engines find us first.

You can browse the objects, learn from our informative videos and even get a market value from our valuations service.

You say “but this all takes time”.

We at www.antiques.co.uk have one of the few automated systems which allows you to update all your items with us, from your own website, whilst you are asleep and closed. https://www.antiques.co.uk/xml-importing.cfm so no need to update multiple websites.

If you want to list more items you can. We charge monthly or annual fees with no sales commissions. Remember the more items you list the more opportunities you will have in customers seeing your details and products. All items have your contact details visible so the buyer may contact you directly. Treat it as a twofold experience, reaching new buyers, selling antiques and also promoting and advertising your business through one of the largest antiques websites in Europe today.
