DON’T FORGET TO… Start to cut back faded perennials Clear garden leaves and make a leaf mould


Pull out annual sweet peas after collecting the seed


Invest in garden fleece to wrap around taps and protect plants from frost


Cover or move inside garden features that are not frost proof Give your greenhouse a good clean


Order sweet pea seed for sowing next month Invest in bulbs – buy the large and firm bulbs Start to feed the birds


Check any apples in storage and remove rotten fruits Plant containers with seasonal bedding It’s a great time to plant a tree or new hedge


GARDEN WILDLIFE If you are planning to have a bonfire for Halloween consider the hedgehogs. Always move the material before burning as there may be a hedgehog hibernating in the pile of twigs.
