Optician marks 20 years of trade


LEANNE Harker has celebrated 20 years in her business at Village Optician in Holborough Road, Snodland with a special offer of 20% off the price of sunglasses for adults and children. She also ran a Spot the Ball competition which raised £102.44 for


the Kent Association for the Blind. She thanked all her loyal customers, some of whom have been with her since she started, and added: “New customers are welcome.”


Scouts prepare charity tea


THE 1st Snodland Scout Group held its second "Tea Prepared" tea party in the cricket meadow where teas, cream teas, music, face-painting and games were enjoyed by local residents. Organiser Angela Hadfield


said: “This year, as well as rais- ing funds for the Scout group, we were promoting the Royal British Legion's Poppy Aware- ness. It was a very successful day and a donation will be made to the Royal British Legion in due course."

Open day boost for church repairs fund


THE Friends of All Saints’ Church, Snodland held their own Open Day as part of a national Heritage Weekend and the annual Friends of Kent Churches 'Ride and Stride' event. Apart from the usual teas and


stalls, Elizabeth Mallinson led a tour of the church. Visitors were also able to see a small exhibition of old photos and pictures and lis- ten to Dr Andrew Ashbee give a fascinating talk on some of the sub-


stantial repairs and modifications which have taken place at the church over the last 200 years. The Rev Hugh Broadbent, Rector


of Snodland, said: "Generous do- nations and grants towards the cur- rent All Saints’ Heritage Lottery Fund repair project continue to be received. £35,000 in match funding needs to be raised by the begin- ning of December for the Stage One repair work to go ahead in 2017."
