Town Talk Library to get a new look


THE library in Snodland High Street is about to be closed for a major refurbishment. It will be closed from October 17


to December 21. Customers and local residents have until October 14 to view the proposed plans and suggest a colour choice and the furniture they prefer, which gives them the opportunity to influence how the library will look. Former pub will become new shop, despite delays


SNODLAND Chamber of Com- merce has contacted the Co-op Food Group to ask what is hap- pening to the old Bull public house in the centre of the town at the High Street junction with Holborough Road. The company has a 20-year


lease on the property and has re- ceived planning permission from Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council for a considerable exten- sion. The Co-op at 46-48 High

the road, at 11 High Street, will not be affected. A spokesman for the Co-op said


he appreciated that it seemed a long time since planning permis- sion was granted for the new store and he appreciated concerns in the local community about why therewas no progress on the build-


ing work. He assured the chamber that the company was fully committed to serving the Snodland community but a number of issues with the proposed building work had been encountered which had caused the delay. The spokesman added hewould update the chamber as soon as he was able to confirm the pro- gramme of works and the pro- jected launch date of the new store.
