Two-stage oxygen delignification kit ordered for Veitsiluoto mill
equipment from Andritz for its Veitsiluoto mill at Kemi in Finland, the world’s most northerly paper producer. The order includes a new DD-
S

This project is the main part of the mill’s modernisation programme to reduce effluent emissions and improve both cost and energy efficiency. The rebuild will improve the quality and uniformity of the pulp produced and will also substantially reduce the mill’s chemical consumption. The Veitsiluoto mill is an
integrated production facility that manufactures both pulp and office papers, coated mechanical papers and sawn products.
Significant cost savings for Mel Paper in Greece
The operations at Greece’s only recycled carton board mill have been optimised in a project carried out by Greycon, one of the world’s leading providers of production planning, scheduling and manufacturing execution systems.
One of the key aspects of the implementation at Mel Paper’s mill near Thessaloniki was to reduce the amount of waste produced. The mill required a comprehensive solution that eliminated time-consuming manual data entry and could increase output. The mill produces more than
100,000 tons of coated printing carton every year, products that are distributed to markets across Western Europe, Africa and Asia. “The implementation was
carried out to the highest standard. It was completed on
time and the communication throughout the process was flawless. Greycon has changed the way we work, we have never been more efficient,” said Eleni Parisi, project manager at MEL Paper. The Greycon system plans,
schedules, trims and executes the production. Working with SAP R3 it transitions between the different modules. Since implementation, the system has created significant cost savings for Mel Paper and optimised productivity. Constantine Goulimis, chief
executive at Greycon, added; “We created this system for companies just like Mel Paper who are looking for a more efficient production process. Through modern optimisation and powerful scheduling algorithms, the Greycon system efficiently records, tracks production and significantly reduces waste.”
China’s Ji’An Group has ordered reject handling equipment from Andritz for the PM11, PM12, and PM13 paper making lines at its mill at Jiaxing City in Zhejiang province. The order is part of Ji’An’s ongoing activities to upgrade the OCC reject handling lines. The reject handling equipment
comprises four Andritz ReCo reject compactors that process rejects to the required dryness needed for further processing. The order also includes erection supervision, start-up and commissioning, and training. The Ji’An Group manufactures
a range of liner grades and corrugated papers.
