he eighth annual Gaia’s Essence Women’s Wellness Conference (GEWWC) will take place Saturday, September 24, at the Islandia Marriott, from noon to 8 p.m. This event is a source of inspiration and motivation to the women of Long Island. This year the theme Empowered Women—Empowered Families reminds us of the importance of women being strong in themselves in order to meet the demands of their family and business lives. This year’s speakers include professional bodybuilder Orlandina Balan,


MsED, IFBB Pro, NASM Certified PT. Balan created her company the Fitter Woman and recently published her first book, Seasons of Her: A Journey of Womanhood. She works with women in the community to take charge of their lives to nurture development and growth. The Fitter Woman is not solely defined as a state of physical fitness; she is a balance of physical, emotional and spiritual wellness. Other guest speakers and performers include Maria Gabriel, from Love


Centered Parenting; Christine Walsh Egan, author of The Healthy Girl’s Guide to Breast Cancer; and local opera singer Soh Young Lee-Segredo, who will perform. Throughout the day, the exhibiting hall will feature local health and wellness com- panies showcasing their products and services.
