Junior members reunite after 20 years

Fundraisers ‘lead’ the way

Organisers of a charity event that locked up 10 barking mad businesses in a dog kennel for a day, have described the fundraising event a “howling success”. On 10 June, Bath Cats and

recreate a class photo 20 years on. Organised by Edward Corrigan –

A

group of former Bristol Junior Chamber members met up at Bristol Zoo to

who now runs Corrigan Associates – the reunion brought together various business people from around the city and beyond. Former president Philip Hillman, now international

director at JLL was joined by this year’s president Oliver Brown of R C Brown, as well as former members Hannah Cameron, of Cameron Balloons, Paul Brown, CEO of Mail Handling International and Mark Roach of Quantuma and former members running their own businesses, Andrew Forbes, Simon Storvik, Simon Cross and Graham Russell. Bristol Junior Chamber exists to promote trade and

commerce in Bristol and develop the interests of its members, who are all under the age of 40. The organisation’s notable successes include the origination of the Bristol Annual Balloon Fiesta and the publication of Secret Underground Bristol. Edward Corrigan said: “I uncovered the old photo

from 1996 in my office and thought it would be fun to try and recreate it 20 years on. It’s a measure of the success of the Bristol Junior Chamber that many of the members have gone on to become senior business people or run their own businesses locally.”

Dogs Home’s annual Kennel Break challenge raised a record breaking £15,383.28 from local business figures who swapped their offices for the doghouse. From behind bars they used their laptops and phones to reach out to their contacts to raise the minimum £1,000 bail money needed to buy their freedom. Money raised by the event

will help to support the £1.4 million annual running costs of one of the busiest and biggest animal adoption centres in the South West.
