U
WE Bristol has received planning permission for new state-of-the-art
studios providing industry standard production and post- production facilities for students studying film and journalism programmes.
Based at Bower Ashton Studios,
the new facilities will enhance the provision of academic facilities for students, provide outstanding learning and allow them to develop their talents and skills with the latest equipment and technology used within the industry.
Building work started in May and
will take 16 months. The architects are Austin-Smith:Lord, the contractors for construction are Willmott Dixon. The new building will replace the Print Centre, which has already been moved into upgraded accommodation on site.
Alex Gilkison, dean of the Faculty
of Arts, Creative Industries and Education, said: “The new studio facilities will support the faculty’s ambition to develop a modern, digitally-enabled studio campus close to the heart of Bristol’s creative and digital economy.”
