Coastal Pharmacy and Wellness
Te first time I visited Coastal Pharmacy and Wellness I noticed they had some natural products and vitamins for sale in their retail section and also a coffee shop/deli offering delicious, local and gluten free treats. Te mistake I made on that visit was that I didn’t take the time to fully see all they had to offer and boy was I missing a lot! Coast- al Pharmacy & Wellness, formerly Apothecary by Design, is located on the first floor of the InterMed Building at 84 Marginal Way in Portland. Tey are Portland’s only local, independent pharmacy. Af- ter having a conversation with two of the owners, Stephen Drapeau and Cassi Brooks, I quickly learned Coastal Pharmacy & Wellness is much more than the typical phar- macy we have all become acquaint- ed with. Teir mission is to help people get – and stay – healthy, by coordinating care among health- care providers, patients and their pharmacists as well as advocating on their patients’ behalf. Tey don’t just fill prescriptions; they take a comprehensive view of the patient’s health and well-being. While med- ications and prescriptions may be essential for disease management, dietary supplements can also play an important role in combating nu- trient depletion, enhancing positive eating habits and improving quality of life. From daily multi-vitamins to workout supplements, there are thousands of nutraceuticals on the market today. Knowing what
