PRIDE OF HILLCREST BLOCK PARTY The fifth annual San Diego Pride Block Party has everything you need to get your Pride weekend started

years of giving with their annual San Diego Pride Kickoff Party. Starting out as a small, back yard celebration, Launch has grown to be one of San Diego’s premier and most popular Pride events over its 17 year history. Launch is the “Party with a Purpose,” returning 100 percent of the ticket sales back to supporting our community. This first-class fête returns to the beautiful grounds of the historic Burnham House near Balboa Park on Friday, July 15 from 6 to 10 p.m. Partygoers will enjoy samplings from San Diego’s top chefs and restaurants, serving up their own unique creations for your enjoyment, a hosted bar, silent auction items and a “guaranteed good time.” This year’s ex- tra large VIP Lounge will include tray-passed hors d’oeuvres, tasty appetizers and decadent treats, plus a private hosted bar serving premium liquors and wine, exclusive VIP entrance, private restroom and other perks. This event is sure to sell out, so get your tickets early.

This year’s highlights include special guest host Jai Ro- driquez of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy; rapper, singer and songwriter DEV, best known for her hits “2night”, “Like a G6”, “Base Down Low” and “In the Dark;” the official Hillcrest Pride Flag raising ceremony with a special performance by the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus; local DJs and go go dancers; RuPaul’s Drag Race all-star- winner, Chad Michaels; luminescent carnival rides; a VIP area; two massive bars and gourmet food trucks. Ticketholders can get the party started early at the Pride of Hillcrest Block Party Hosted Happy Hour from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., featuring complimentary craft cocktails for the first 300 guests. Advanced general admission tickets are just $20, with VIP tickets at $45 and include event entry, two complimentary drinks and one food item. The Pride of Hillcrest Block Party is a 21 and over event.

UNITE! MUSIC FESTIVAL New to the Pride scene in San Diego for 2016, the Unite! Music Festival promises three days of music, fun


and summer heat with five of the world’s best party brands who sponsor parties all over the world: WE Party, Masterbeat, XLSIOR Mykonos, Flaunt, Overdrive, and Chaos. Friday, July 15 features XLSIOR Mykonos at the House of Blues with DJs Grind and GSP from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Saturday, July 16 gives you two options for Pride weekend entertainment beginning with Flaunt. Featured DJs include: Tom Staar, Noir D Costas, mad Waves and Dawna Montell from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Quartyard, the outdoor container park in Downtown San Diego. Following Saturday evening at Spin Nightclub, from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. will be Overdrive, with Ivan Gomez, Nina Flowers, Dawna Montell and DJ Blackwell. Sunday, July 17 brings the WE Party presented by Masterbeat at downtown’s Fluxx Nightclub from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. and features DJs Danny Verde and Brett Henrichsen. If that wasn’t enough weekend revelry for you, on Monday, July 18 the celebration returns to Spin Nightclub with Chaos, the finale featuring DJs Tristan Jaxx and Dan De Leon from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m.
