SNODLAND Town Football Club has capped an incredibly suc- cessful season by winning pro- motion from the Kent County League Premier Division to the Southern Counties East League Division One next season. Mel Rayfield, club chairman,


said: “What amemorable and his- toric season we have had, with cup and league successes en- joyed not only by a number of the youth and junior teams but also by the veterans team, which was crowned league champions and cup winners in its first season." He added that the first team will


be playing in the sixth tier of foot- ball, the highest level of football ever seen in the town. In the Express Cabs Maidstone


Boys Primary League, Snodland Nomads U15s won the Division One title, the U13s Division Four, the U14s the League Cup and the

Steve Young, was delighted with the end of season honours. He said: “What a fantastic season for the club and thanks go to the managers and coaches for their hard work and to all the players for their commitment this season.” Club CEO Dave Jeal said: "The


club continues tomove forward at a terrific pace and with big events, such as the annual football tour- nament and the return of Party in the Park this summer, the close season will be busier than ever. “There’s a lot to look forward to


next season and we have some great young footballers coming through the different age groups as well as our first team starting an historic season in their new league.”

Teams sign up for annual tournament


SNODLAND'S annual football tournament will be played at Potyns Sports Ground on the weekend of June 18 and 19. Players from the U6s to U18s and Veterans will be taking part.


Last year the event was a huge success with 148 teams from the South East involved.

Bowls club competition raises cash for care home


SNODLAND Short Mat Bowls Club held its annual charity competition at the community centre and raised £686 for Rectory Close care home. President Don Cribben said: "Twenty-four teams of triples from


all over Kent took part. A very en- joyable time was had by all and the eventual winning team came from Langley. Many thanks go to all our helpers." Don and club members are pic-


tured presenting the cheque to Kay Hardy, the manager of Rectory Close, who thanked the members and said the residents of the home would decide what would be bought.


The Under 9s team who took part in the penalty shoot-out Penalties raise funds


THE annual penalty shoot-out and presentation evening run by Snodland Town Football Club raised £4,250 for the club. Members of the U6s to U16s


teams took 6,774 penalties during the morning at Potyns Sports Ground. Every player received a trophy


at the presentation evening. Dave Jeal, the club’s chief executive of- ficer, who made the presenta- tions, said there was also a friendly match between dads in


themorning. "It was funny seeing so many


dads hobbling around come the evening." Dave added: "The presentation


night was well supported and the party went on until late, with the kids playing and the mums and dads dancing. Some said it was the best penalties and presenta- tion night formany years.” On behalf of the club Dave thanked all the teams for taking part.


Towns celebrate 30-year bond


MEMBERS of Snodland Twinning Association have celebrated their 30th anniversary with a visit toMoyeuvre-Grande in north east France. Six students from Holmesdale School accompanied the party and spent time with pupils from Moyeuvre school. June Wright said they were greeted by the Mayor, Monsieur Rene Drouin, officials and a brass band before speeches and an exchange of gifts. The following day, there was a trip to Kirwiller, near Strasbourg, and


a burlesque show at the Royal Palace. The students were taken to a theme park, a chocolate factory and to


Metz, the region's capital city, to see the cathedral and museum. June thanked Veronica Tipp, the secretary, Graham, the coach driver Holmesdale teacher Maria Martin. She added: "We would like to thank all those who hosted us in


France for making the 30th anniversary such an exceptional celebra- tion. Here's to next year when the French will be visiting Snodland." Anybody interested in the twinning association can contact Veronica on 01634 240598.
