JDP and Kier combine to provide effective stormwater management for housing development
A leading water management specialists JDP has supplied large diameter HDPE pipes for a stormwater attenuation tank to provide effective water management and protect a new housing development in Wheal Harmony, Redruth. Kier Group one of the UK’s largest property and construction companies required an effective drainage solution to protect a new development of 65 affordable dwellings for Sanctuary Housing at Wheal Harmony, Redruth. JDP’s water management team supplied an attenuation tank of 59.5 metres in length comprising of 1500mm HDPE pipe from its depot in Launceston. Large Diameter HDPE Pipes are a tried and tested method for carrying stormwater underground. Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) however, are much more than a single product. The objective is to design a system to deal with the flow at source, rather than transferring the problem further down the watercourse. JDP has an extensive range of products that provide effective attenuation and infiltration including the recently extended RAINBOX® portfolio offfering flexible solutions to minimise the risk to localised flooding and provide best practice SuDS. Through its technical design department JDP provides expert design, advice and support for projects involving SuDS.

www.jdpipes.co.uk Tobermore permeable paving specified for Scotland's £842m new Hospital
The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde district board recently faced challenges in seeking a modern, sustainable landscape for the new £842 million Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. Tobermore solved the problem with the provision of an attractive SuDS paving solution. The facility, which extends to 28.6 hectares, forms one of the largest acute hospitals in the UK. The large-scale project was constructed by Brookfield Multiplex and Gillespies led the master-planning and landscape design of the healthcare facility. Tobermore introduced Gillespies to the Hydropave permeable paving range – a hard landscaping solution that promises durability, long-term structural performance and superior aesthetic appeal. A combination of Tobermore’s Hydropave Sienna Duo and Hydropave Fusion permeable paving in the sparkling shade of silver was specified for the landscape. The striking natural granite aggregate surface of Hydropave Sienna Duo and Hydropave Fusion has created a chic, modern appearance at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The inclusion of a SuDS solution is an effective method of creating a sustainable hard landscape, and Tobermore’s innovative Hydropave permeable paving serves this function extremely well.
