Leading PIR manufacturer Recticel Insulation is launching its new ‘feel good inside’ philosophy and debuting a self-supporting room-in-a-roof system for pitched roofs at this year’s Vision built environment exhibition. The next-generation product, L-Ments™, comprises roofing underlay, counter battens and

integral structural timber in one PIR insulation panel as a single lightweight cost- effective modular roofing element, making it exceptionally quick and easy to install. The Kingspan TEK Building System has helped to alleviate the pressure on an iconic build in Lewes, East Sussex. Clad in CORTEN rusted steel, the striking design blends the contemporary tastes of the home- owners with the industrial heritage of the site. The plot

on which to build the home, dubbed ‘The Gateway to Lewes’, was a mere 11m wide. In order to realise this adventurous aesthetic on such a narrow plot, the Kingspan TEK Building System was specified. The System comprises of structural insulated panels, which can be pre-cut to each project’s specification. This bespoke approach, combined with the panelised system construction, allowed the construction team to establish a fast and predictable installation programme.

Products from Kingspan Insulation’s Kooltherm and Therma ranges have helped to transform a derelict water tower in North Yorkshire into a striking family home, as featured on Channel 4’s Restoration Man. However, as with any conversion of an industrial building into a domestic dwelling, there were some inherent design issues that needed to be considered. This led to the

specification of Kingspan Kooltherm K12 Framing Board. Timber studwork was installed on the inner face of the brick external walls. 50mm thick Kingspan Kooltherm K12 Framing Board was then installed between the battens. The insulation boards offered a lightweight solution which could easily be cut to size.
