Frequently asked questions for the florist... answered!

Will my favorite flower be in season? Most flowers are grown all over the world in greenhouses and are readily available year round. The most common flowers: roses, carnations, mums, gerbera daisies, tulips, sunflowers, stock, lilies, calla lilies, freesia, hydrangea, and more, are consistently available year round and their price varies only slightly throughout the year. There are a few flowers that are truly seasonal; Peonies, hyacinths, blooming branches, daffodils, lilac, dahlias, and poppies are the most popular flowers that are limited to a short time of the year.

I have an inspiration picture, can you make this exact bouquet? Yes and no. The real answer is we can come as close as possible. Half of the floral images online are either silk, photoshopped to alter the color, or are unrealistic for real events because they were staged for a photoshoot. When bringing in an inspiration photo, keep an open mind to your florist’s suggestions. You’re hiring a professional florist because they are experienced in pulling off a particular look and tying together the colors and style you like within your budget.

Why do I need to give you my budget? It’s important to give your florist a realistic budget range upfront so they can quote you arrangements that will best fit your vision. Withholding your budget means the florist will have to guess what you can afford. Sometimes a guess too low will equal arrangements that are smaller than what you actually want, or a guess too high will equal an unrealistic look and a redesign of ideas to create arrangements within your your budget that will still give you a similar look to what you desire. Being budget conscious is normal so being upfront about your budget gives the florist the ability to be forward thinking and offer you more options that will actually work for you.

Can I bring you my own containers for the centerpieces? In most cases florists are happy to work with your personal containers, but before you buy them, you should show your florist first so they can check to make sure the size and shape is appropriate. Your florist might also have the same vase as a rental or may be able to sell them to you cheaper than what you can find on your own. Have exact dimensions or a sample of the container before you sign your contract to make sure your florist is planning for the

correct size. Don’t plan to drop them off until the week before your wedding, florists normally have limited space in their shops. Also be sure to bring a few extra containers in case one gets damaged, your florist won’t be able to replace something if they didn’t provide it. Finally always bring your containers clean and sticker free.

How do I preserve my bouquet? It depends on the type of flower. If you are interested in preserving your bouquet tell your florist in your first meeting so they can pick flowers that will dry well. Some flowers like roses and hydrangeas dry beautifully, others like lilies do not.
