Hospice run MORE than 700 experienced and fun runners braved the cold weather to turn out for Maidstone’s biggest road run in aid of the Heart of Kent Hospice. All three routes started and fin-


ished at Cornwallis Academy and took the runners through the coun- try roads around Linton, Boughton Monchelsea and the surrounding villages.

New pavilion marked by smiles and charity


HUNTON Wanderers’ Cricket Club celebrated the official open- ing of their new pavilion with a match that raised smiles and £700 for charity. The match was held to raise funds


for a good cause in memory of a for- mer chairman in front of the smart, traditional-style clubhouse. Taking the tournament title was Hunton’s own celebration T20 team, beating challenges from the Hunton Leg- ends and the Blue House club, in the fund-raiser for the British Lung Foundation. The charity gamewas organised by Lesley Matthewson, with her son Tom, inmemoryof her late husband Paul, a former club chairman, who died in 2014. The matcheswere um- pired by Stuart Chilmaid, the chair- man of the Kent Association of Cricket Officials. Afterwards, Hunton Wanderers’ chairman Simon Taylor presented Lesley with a plaque to mark the oc- casion.
