The Beatch’s believe unplugging from life’s many distractions and focusing on boating has allowed them to maintain an amazing closeness as a family. Their two children, now 28 and 30, have been boating with them since they were 3 and 5. Through the years, boat- ing always provided a consistent and enjoyable way for the family to be together. And no wonder, it’s fun for everyone. The family has had numerous generations on board – from infants to grandpar- ents – enjoying the many activities like swimming, floating, cruising, water sports and BBQ’s, along with all the great conversations that make every day on the water memorable.

Now the kids use the boat both with Mom and Dad, and occasion- ally on their own as they begin building their own memories. Their daughter, recently married, is already dreaming of her own family’s first Regal boat.

day morning they slip out of the marina to enjoy coffee adrift, and af- ter cooking breakfast and cruising the lake for a bit they find a place to drop anchor for the weekend. One of the great joys is knowing other Regal owners will find them, rafting together to join in the fun. Their community is not limited to the marina, as they’ve made memories with people from all parts of the lake!

They typically take a longer vacation of up to to three weeks each summer. When asked if they ever get bored or feel like they spend too much time on the water, they are quick to say they wish they could spend more time aboard and afloat. Onboard their 3360, the days are the perfect blend of days in and on the water, followed by restful nights on the hook. While they have been cruising the area for over 20 years, the Beatch family still finds new places to explore on Shuswap Lake.

When people ask them if they consider boating to be expensive, they are quick to say it’s an affordable investment in, and for the family. Buying a high quality product like a Regal with a dealer like Captain’s Village to help maintain it through the years, insures the highest resale when (or if) they decide to sell. The cost of the boat, when compared to travelling elsewhere (where gas, hotels and meals can quickly add up), makes boating an enjoyable and affordable alter- native. In fact, sometimes the Beatch’s have started the planning process to take other vacations, yet quickly resorted to their favou- rite spot, the Regal on Shuswap Lake. When they think about the weekend and vacation time they want, it is definitely about creating memories at the marina and on the water.

Whether on a Regal 1900, the 3360, or the palatial 53 Sport Coupe, the Beatch’s point out “You see the same smile from your passen- gers, so it’s not the size of the boat, it’s the fact that you are boating.”

In fact, Laurence believes in Captain’s Village and Regal so much that for the last ten years he has volunteered at boat shows in Van- couver and Calgary to share their experiences with other boating families.

Laurence adds, “my hope is I can share the difference

these organizations have made in our lives so others might choose the boating lifestyle and begin creating their own memories.”
