Tish Quirk Rancho Santa Fe, California
horsestish@aol.com The legendary Lucky Boy is credited with taking the KWPN horses to the top of the international jumping world. Olym- pic gold medalists Calypso (USA) and The Freak (Germany) and World Cup finals champions and numerous Nations Cup champions for several countries are proof of the Lucky Boy influence. The Lucky Boy son
Octrooi became Best of Luck in the U.S. He had already produced numer- ous international Grand Prix jumpers, FEI dres- sage champions and inter- national three-day event horses. He continued to sire champions in the U.S. Two Best of Luck sons, Just The Best and More Than Luck, have proven them- selves as performance champions in the hunters and jump- ers and both have sired many champions on the line, under saddle and over fences. This bloodline consistently produces horses with soundness from correct conformation, spectacu- lar athletic ability, jumping scope and style, beautiful move- ment and exceptional temperament and character. They have all of the talent needed for the professional and the kind and generous attitude needed for the amateur. The great blood runs true and the legacy continues.
Hap Hansen on board Best of Luck who brought the Lucky Boy blood to the U.S. and his sons, Just The Best and More Than Luck continue the legacy with next generation of exceptional young stallions currently earning their way into Tish›s breeding program.
Walkabout Station, Willis, Texas
www.walkaboutstation.com In 2006, we went to Vechta and met Clemens von Merveldt of Gut Füchtel who had a DeNiro mare that had caught my eye. Vb St Pr Winessa was a bright chestnut, out of the famous Weissena damline with a full blaze and four stockings, bred by Susanne Flege. Winessa had a 2006 Stedinger filly (Wellness) and was bred back to Stedinger for 2007.
48 May/June 2016
Fast forward to 2016 and Winessa has produced two
licensed stallions, Rhaposario by Rosario and Harbour Side by Harvard. She has two younger sons being raised as stallion prospects, one by Benetton Dream (Be Niro WS) and the other by Belissimo M (Beaujolais WS). Winessa’s Stedinger filly EM Wellness has produced a stallion, Rey du Sol by Roi du Soleil. Winessa’s first licensed son Rhaposario sired his own licensed son, Rosarius, champion of the 2013 Austrian Warmblood stal- lion licensing. We are honored to have this “smiling” mare as part of our herd at Walkabout Station!
W. Charlot Farms Stratford, Ontatio, Canada
www.charlotfarm.com At Augustin Walch’s W Charlot Farms in Stratford, Ontario, the bloodlines of Rio Grande have been overwhelm- ingly successful in producing qual- ity hunters and jumpers. Rio Grande, himself successful at the international Grand Prix and Nations Cup level, has produced several international jump- ers, including Catwalk and Rhapsody. In addition to this accomplishment, his offspring’s success in the hunter ring earned us USEF Hunter Breeder of the Year for ten consecutive years, 2004-2013. Hunter champi- ons Rio Bravo, Rio Bronco, Eye Remember Rio, Rio Renoir, Due North and Rio’s Echo cemented Rio Grande’s reputa- tion as one of, if not the best, hunter/jumper sire in Canadian history.
