Book title: Groovy Geeks and Rotten Romans Author: Terry Deary Publisher: Scholastic

As I have always been fascinated by history I was happy to receive a book present from my daughter who is a history scholar. The book she says "will make me laugh" ...I found it in the second hand shop in Brighton she said... and she is right - it did make me laugh. 'Groovy Greeks and Rotten Romans' is a title in the wonderful Horrible History series by Terry Deary. I am used to reading history that is presented in a factual but serious tone...imagine my surprise when I scanned through this little book to find that not only were

the facts historically correct but they were also

presented in a humorous and easily understandable format. Designed to aid younger people these books are a wonderful aid to learning history. What these books are full of is the sometime gruesome detail that many history teachers are reluctant to impart to their students. These books engage the reader and the information content is amazing. Other titles in the horrible history series include ...'Awesome Egyptians'...'Terrible Tudors' and 'Smashing Saxons' to name but a few. Go on have a scout on the local book stalls at the markets...engage your mind and awaken your interest in history. These books put the fun into learning.

...keep reading Ivor Kindle.
