Sendai is known throughout Japan as a modern city in harmony with nature. The city possesses beautiful scenery with lush zelkova trees that line its streets. For this reason, Sendai is called the “City of Trees”. Sendai is also known as a great shopping venue. Points of interest include the Ichibancho Shopping Mall, S-Pal Mall at the Sendai Station, a five-story 100 yen store, and the Daiei building. You will also find familiar American shops such as Gap, Eddie Bauer, Tommy Hilfiger, and Starbucks. Sendai is about a four hour drive south of Misawa.
