OIRASE GORGE & LAKE TOWADA


Hiking along the Oirase stream is a major draw for a trip to Lake Towada. The stream runs 67 kilometers (42 miles) from the lake to the Pacific Ocean. Take a picturesque hike through Oirase Gorge, where you will see a myriad of waterfalls, rapids coursing over moss covered boulders, and dense woods of Japanese beech, oaks, and other broad leafed trees.


Some of our tours also stop at Yasumi-ya where we take you around the lake on a ferry cruise. Yasumi-ya is a starting point for sightseeing trips around Lake Towada. There are several tourist facilities, hotels, restaurants, and gift shops in the area.


Watch for tours to the Lake Towada Snow Festival in February, and the Firework Festival in July.
