SAPPORO SNOW FESTIVAL

Sapporo is the fifth largest city in Japan and the capital of Hokkaido. This was where the 1972 Winter Olympics were held. It is known as the home to Sapporo beer and miso flavored ramen. It also hosts a popular snow festival and ice sculpture competition.

The Sapporo Snow Festival, which is held yearly over seven days in February, is one of Misawa ITT’s most popular tours. It is one of the largest winter events in Japan. Teams from outside Japan come to participate and about two million people come to see the enormous snow sculptures on display in Odori Park. The theme for the sculptures varies and is likely to feature an event or famous person from the past year. There are also long ice slides which people can slide down. ITT offers tours by ferry and private packages by train.
