• Oxford accountancy firm Shaw Gibbs has appointed Clifford Brown as director and head of corporate finance. With over 15 years’ senior experience in the field as an adviser and in-house, Brown's work has included disposals, acquisitions, raising equity finance for growth companies, structuring MBO/MBI transactions and raising finance from £1 million to £60m. His experience spans a wide range of business sectors, including UK manufacturing, marketing services, recruitment and business process outsourcing. A chartered management accountant with an MBA from Oxford’s Said Business School, he takes over Shaw Gibbs’ corporate finance division from managing director Peter O’Connell.


• Leo Silver has joined the Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) Oxfordshire team to work within the professional services, property management and agency departments. He will be working closely with the head of valuation and lease advisory David Gilbert. • HMT has announced that Sara Kang has joined its audit, tax and advisory team as senior tax manager, specialising in both corporate and personal tax planning. Kang also works closely with corporate finance and lead advisory to provide a tax efficient and streamline service for clients under one roof. Kang trained and qualified in tax mainly with HMRC and Ernst & Young and has acquired over 20 years experience dealing with all aspects of taxation. She also trained with the Professional Contractor Group (PCG) and became an affiliate member providing specialist advice on IR35 matters for both individuals and businesses. Kang has also worked in industry. Past employers have included Oracle Corporation (UK) and the Halcrow Group where she built up a wealth of experience in corporate tax.
