the original 1992 screenplay forward to the present day and changes the focus of the story to bring the character of Rachel Marron rather than that of Frank Farmer to the forefront. The script, adapted from the original screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan, also expands the role of Rachel Marron’s sister, Nikki. The show’s premiere production opened at the Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End in December 2012 following previews from early November. It is a big show with almost thirty people in the company, a ten piece orchestra, automation and a host of technical staff.

The opening cast included Heather Headley as Rachel Marron, Lloyd Owen as Frank Farmer and Debbie Kurup as Nicki Marron. Later soul artist Beverley Knight took over the role of Rachel with Tristan Gemmill as Frank. Alexandra Burke then took over from Beverley Knight, and she will grace the Woking stage for most shows. Described as ‘brilliant and breathtakingly romantic’, and ‘a runaway gold-plated musical hit’ The Bodyguard is a show not to be missed, so be sure to book early to avoid disappointment. The Bodyguard is on stage at Woking’s New Victoria Theatre from Tuesday 29th March to Saturday 9th April 2016, Monday to Saturday evenings at 7.30pm with matinees at 2.30pm on Wednesday and Saturday plus Thursday 31st March.
