Party in the Park acts announced

THERE has been a wave of antici- pation since it was announced in the April issue of Town Talk that Snodland's popular Party in the Park is returning next year. The event at Potyns Sports Ground on July 9 and 10 will be or- ganised by Snodland Town Foot- ball Club. Previous parties were held in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Club chairman Mel Rayfield saidthe announcement of next year's headliners on social media sites had brought an immediate demand for ticket information. He said: "The Saturday event

will headline Magic ofMotown, fea- turing the music of all of Motown's favourite artistes with a seven- piece orchestra and nine acts. "The show also features Gwen Dickey, of Rose Royce, who will be performing fantastic hits such as 'CarWash' and 'Wishing on a Star'. "The Saturday evening show will

be opened by acts including 'I am Beyonce', a tribute to the world fa- mous artiste." The Sunday evening event is headlined by the tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Big

Girls Don't Cry and X-Factor semi- finalist Austin Drage. Tickets go on sale from January

20 at Hicks & Co, High Street, Snodland. Early bird tickets are available up toMarch 31 at £20 for an adult, £12.50 for a child under 13, £60 for a family and £95 for a family for both nights. After then family tickets are £80, adults £27.50 and child £12.50. Mel said it would be a big week-

end for the club, but they had an advantage in that the organisers of the three Party in the Parks are club officials: Mel, Alan Totham and Peter Rimmer. A committee has been set up to

run the event, headed by club vice- chairman Jason Cook and event and fundraising manager, Sarah Sims. The club is grateful for the support of Snodland Town Coun- cil.

The club has already gained planning permission to develop the ground and hopes the Party in the Park will help boost funds to- wards the ultimate goal of provid- ing changing rooms, hospitality and floodlights.

Local news for Snodland and Halling Razor Ruddock is guest at club

A CAPACITY audience was entertained with stories of football and celebrity TV shows when Neil "Razor" Ruddock was the guest at Snod- land Town Football Club's Sportsman's Evening. Comedian

Micky Pugh added to the hilarity of the evening at the community centre, which was organised by the club's events man- ager, Sarah Sims with Alan Totham and Jason Cook. Sarah said: "We would like to thank everyone for their great support

of the auction and raffle, in aid of the club's ground development." Alan added: "We are scheduling the start of the first phase of our ground development, which is the erection of a seated stand so funds raised on the evening were especially important."
