This microarray simulation provides an inexpensive, hands-on lab to introduce students to microarrays, the complexities of gene expression, and the role of gene expression in cancer. Using simulated microarray technology, students compare the relative expression levels of 6 different genes in healthy lung cells and lung cancer cells. They then discuss the significance of the relative expression levels with respect to the genes’ roles in causing cancer. Kit contains enough material for 10 groups to perform the experiment twice.
