programme holds us to a high standard and high level of accountability. Working in the tissue
environment is all about cleanliness, system integrity, and frequency of maintenance. Tissue application, gauging, and gauge safety must be understood extensively. TSP’s comprehensive knowledge of the tissue industry and environment, and proactive approach to maintenance sets the IT services company apart from its competitors. TSP works with International Paper, Cascades Tissues Group, and a number of Georgia Pacific mills, including their Port Hudson tissue mill. TSP’s maintenance contracts
have always included both corrective and preventive maintenance, but its new process brings standards to the system, maximizing efficiency. By establishing a strong preventive maintenance system, customers require less corrective support, which minimizes disruptions in production. In the summer of 2014, TSP

environment and sometimes it’s necessary to service tissue machines ten times as often as with fine paper. We’ve gone into new customer sites that we’ve taken over from less conscientious competitors, and are surprised with how dusty it can be. They may have blown the scanner down three times a month yet we do that at least every day for our customers. If you miss a day or two, tissue
finds its way into every nook and cranny of the system. Our preventive maintenance
created a tiger team of five technicians from its industrial automation group, who worked together to define the new system’s requirements and beta test to ensure it worked properly. TSP added the finalised solution to its centralised cloud-based custom
system, CSC, which is used for maintaining its list of customers and contract information, and handles dispatching. While all manufacturers
provide customers with a daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance checklist, TSP’s technicians bring a great deal of value in their expertise and knowledge of the equipment, and their customers’ environments. With the new preventive maintenance system, that knowledge can be shared and leveraged easily from one location to another. TSP’s preventive maintenance
system is also available on the mobile platform, helping techs perform maintenance in the field, checking off tasks as they complete them down the line. The system also features robust reporting and a proactive notification system, which share what the next 30, 60, and 90 days include in terms of preventive maintenance. Technicians are able to capture various parameters with log readings, including fluid levels, pressure, temperature, flow rates, and more. * Bill Weiss is sales and
