Issue 170

August 2015

Oh hi Norwich, you stunner! Welcome to August, the month known to the Anglo Saxons as “weod monath”, or “weed month”, as it’s when weeds and other plants grow most rapidly. Really, dudes? Sure. Oooh, a special brownie? I’d love to, thanks.

We spent most of July trying to find ways to cool our smokin’ hot bodies the f*ck down whilst celebrating the wondrous folk of our favourite city with Pride, the Lanes Summer Fayre and the Lord Mayor’s filling up the streets with joy and party and stuff. Pushing out the jive, bringing in the love, Norwich. Nice one.

So what have we got to tickle your pretty little fancy in this issue, huh? HUH? Well sure, it’s a quiet month for gigs as all of the pop stars are at festivals with the venison and the caviar and the yurts and the sex-slaves and that. But that’s not to say that nothing’s gwan in Norwich this month. We’ve got interviews with the splendid DJ Format, Irish band Flogging Molly, cutting edge Wakefield poet Matt Abbott and the all round hilarious nonconformist comedian MC Devvo. We’ve checked out an amaze new exhibition about Magdalen Street, shared some of our best photos from Latitude with you, and you can even win a pair of brand new DM’s within these very pages. Te things we do for you. Honestly.

Tere’s also a rad pull out guide to the seventh Norwich Body Art Festival which takes place at Open this month on the 15th and 16th. Tere’s everything you could ever want to know about it, including interviews with some of the attending tattoo artists and a guide to all the jolly entertainers. You can go right ahead and ink me real good already; I still have some skin space left somewhere…

We’ve had the pleasure of welcoming Work Experience Laura to our collective fold this month, and boy has she been great. Tanks Laura. Taura.

Anyhoo, the jam’s not gonna pump itself up, people. I’m off for another brownie. Te first was delicious. Laters.
